Millview Surgery in Mansfield are looking for a Practice Nurse to join the team.

About the practice

They are a busy six Doctor practice, rated good by CQC located in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. They aim to provide high quality care for their 8500 patients.

They are an established teaching and training practice, accommodating nursing students, GP Registrars and F2 GPs. They are part of Rosewood PCN and achieve good QOF results yearly. Their clinical system is SystmOne.

Post Holder Requirements

  • 2 years post registration
  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Possess good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills

Main duties of the job

The practice are looking for someone to work in conjunction with and independently of the other members of the practice team, according to policy and protocols, in order to assess the nursing needs of the practice population and provide high standards of appropriate care and evaluation, whilst maintaining professional conduct in accordance with NMC standards.

The post requires cover for all aspects of practice nursing. Experience of General Practice is preferred but not essential as they are happy to train the right candidate who is looking to move into Primary Care.

The successful candidate must be forward thinking, able to work independently and as part of a team. You will be required to be fully registered and have an enhanced DBS check.

Principal Duties

  • Carry out treatment room duties such as suture removal, wound care, venepuncture etc.
  • Administer childhood and adult immunisations accordingly and within the guidelines of the PGDs
  • Provide travel health service to the practice population
  • To assess individual health needs of the practice population, including social, ethnic and cultural influences and provide holistic nursing care based on these assessments
  • Provide well person checks including health promotion, self-examination awareness and screening as appropriate
  • Provide a cervical cytology service to all eligible women within the practice
  • To assist in the delivery of chronic disease management programmes for patients with long term conditions such as asthma, COPD, diabetes, etc.
  • Liaise with other members of the primary health care team and other agencies accordingly, to maintain provision of appropriate care
  • Ensure all nursing care, interaction and procedures are recorded accurately and within 24 hours, into patients’ medical records according to practice protocol, including opportunistic QOF requirements
  • Provide audit information in according with practice policy and the CQC (Care Quality Commission)
  • Work according to health and safety regulations as specified in the Health and Safety policies
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times with regard to both patients and staff
  • Communicate effectively with other team members, patients and carers
  • Recognise people’s needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly
