About the role

The Trailblazer Fellowship Scheme is an exciting opportunity for ambitious individuals that aims to support the GPs and the wider team at Skegby Family Medical Centre working in areas of health deprivation. This type of healthcare is intellectually stimulating and extremely rewarding but might also have challenges that can seem daunting early in your career. Being a Trailblazer Fellow will give you the knowledge, skills, and confidence to effectively help patients with complex health and social care needs and is a great way to start to build a portfolio career and develop a sought-after special interest.

The fellowships are 12-month fixed term contracts for GPs within their first five years post CCT and will offer a combination of clinical sessions and two paid education and development sessions. In this protected time, you will take part in a virtual national education programme relating to health inequalities, learn about local services available for patients with complex health needs relating to deprivation, form a supportive peer group with other Trailblazer fellows and undertake some relevant project work within Skegby Family Medical Centre or more broadly within the Ashfield North Primary Care Network, of which Skegby is a member. You will also have access to a personal budget to spend on your own learning needs. Please note that being a Trailblazer can be combined with New to Practice Fellowship, so that if you are within the first two years post CCT you can access the Trailblazer scheme in addition to the usual support alongside your peers.

This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious individuals to be part of a harmonious, integrated and successful team.

Post holder benefits

  • Personal budget of up to £3000 for coaching and CPD
  • Protected time to participate in a virtual national education programme
  • Medical indemnity
